    Architect Director

    Matthew founded Arkhi in 2010 after working for Mouchel (WSP) and IBI Nightingale Architects. He currently lectures for the RIBA North West Part III course and heads Arkhi's design and construction projects.

    Matthew has worked on a number of large scale projects and sectors including: Healthcare, Mental Health, BSF Schools, Commercial, DDA and Private Clients.

    In his spare time Matthew enjoys playing squash and drinking a nice coffee.

    Ian Harrison

    Architect

    Ian joined Arkhi in 2013 as the company's first employee after graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2008. Ian has worked for several architectural practices in Liverpool, gaining experience in commercial, social housing and educational projects.

    Ian undertakes the role of lead designer and has delivered several successful residential projects.

    In his spare time Ian enjoys attending music festivals, practicing photography and enjoying the occasional alcoholic beverage - sometimes managing to combine all three!

    Callum McConnachie

    Architect

    Callum joined Arkhi in 2014 after graduating from the Advanced Architectural Studies programme at the University of Strathclyde. Callum is project lead on our HERO project, The Autonomous Subterranean House, as seen on Channel 4’s ‘Grand Designs’.

    Leading projects from inception to completion, through developing and enhancing the project brief, Callum has delivered several HERO projects. This has been achieved through exceptional design, exceeding client expectations whilst keeping within budget.

    Callum has a borderline obsessive passion for cinema, music, coffee and photography.

    Catherine Ellis

    Office Manager

    Catherine joined Arkhi after gaining extensive experience in IT Sales and Customer Service. Over the past 15 years she has been both employed and self-employed in the Natural Health industry as a Nutritional Therapist and Manager of a health food shop and alternative health clinic.

    A love of building design and construction brought her to the industry. She has a passion for interiors and is a keen browser of Instagram and Pinterest, channeling her energies on frequent redecorating.

    Catherine is our Office Manager - which may translate to jack of all trades. She straddles the Architects while fielding customer enquiries, managing trade accounts, ensuring health and safety rules are implemented, oversees purchasing, diary management and lots more.

    In her spare time, she loves to read books, go mountain biking, skiing with her sons and to take her adorable cocker spaniel dog outdoors.

    Ryan Collett

    Quantity Surveyor

    Ryan joined Arkhi after graduating from the University of Wolverhampton Commercial Management and Quantity Surveying (RICS). Ryan worked for over 9 years managing and working for principal contractors, predominantly in the insurance industry, restoring domestic and commercial buildings, and listed historic buildings and scheduled monuments of national importance effected by fire, subsidence, and impact.

    Managing budgets for complex projects and overseeing the tender process allows Ryan to ensure quality is maintained while the architecture exceeds our client's expectations.

    An enthusiastic cyclists, Ryan also enjoys walking in the countryside and computing.

    Joseph Willoughby

    Architectural Assistant

    Joseph joined Arkhi after graduating from University of Liverpool, School of Architecture BA (Hons). His studio focused on designing unique and creative spaces for the city of Liverpool, enhancing the visual idealism of the city. His thesis project was the designing of a media complex for Channel 4 located on the Albert Docks of Liverpool, in which he was sortlisted for the RIBA Work Accreditation Award 2018 and won the Alumini Jonathan Falkingham and Urban Splash, best model award 2018.

    Assisting the design team with residential and extension projects, Joseph is working towards his chartership qualification and is cruently undergoing his RIBA Part II at the University of Liverpool.

    When out of office, Joseph has a passion for traveling and meeting up with friends.

    Farah Akhter

    Architectural Technologist

    Farah joined Arkhi after graduating from University of Salford, Architectural Technology BA (Hons). She previously worked on residential adaptation projects for disabled domestic clients, project managing the site works and delivering technical design packages.

    Working on a range of projects from concept design to detail design, Farah's ambition it to further her studies by completing the RIBA Part II and Part III to qualify as an Architect.

    When she's not in the office, Farah spends her time knitting, raising her son, enjoying a nice meal and trying out new restaurants. Oh she also does pilates and goggleboxing Netflix.

    Tom Oldham

    Architectural Assistant & Junior Urban Planner

    Tom has been working at Arkhi over the past four years gaining work experience while completing a BA (Hons) in Architecture and Planning from the University of West England, Bristol. After graduating, Tom has re-joined Arkhi to carry on his architectural work with interests in masterplanning and urban design.

    Tom works alongside the design team gaining experience in feasibaility / concept proposals to detail design. As well as completing his RIBA Part 1 professional practice, Tom is also working his way towards becoming a Chartered Planner with the RTPI.

    Tom volunteers at an animal rescue centre leading a team of 10 high-school students in caring for rescued cats. Playing the piano, reading novels and travelling with friends keeps Tom busy outside the office.

    Jessica Everall

    Jessica first joined Arkhi in 2018 for a placement during her second year studying Architecture BA (Hons) at Falmouth University and returned full time after graduating in 2019.

    The projects she undertook for her Part 1 were all based in Cornwall and were a variety of residential and commercial, as well as a real build project in First Year. Her final project was a multi-generational housing complex for students and the elderly aiming to integrate physical exercise into the residents everyday lives, this was entered into the Architecture For Health Student Competition 2019 and won Highly Commended for the Open Award.

    Jessica is now working towards her RIBA Part 1 accreditation whilst at Arkhi. Outside the office Jessica enjoys running and regularly participates in Half Marathons around the country, her most recent being the Snowdonia Half (one of the toughest in the UK), and finished first in her category. Jessica also loves water sports such as surfing and body boarding.

    Rosie Nimmo

    Architect

    Rosie joined the Arkhi team in 2019, after spending 10 years at a practice in Manchester specialising in the large scale retail, residential, industrial and commercial sectors.

    She has a passion for hand drawn sketches, and particularly enjoys coming up with ideas for mixed use master planning schemes; and also for conversion / extension projects where a harmony is required between the existing and new build components of the building. She likes to keep up with current trends using social media and delving into the plethora of magazines at the Arkhi office.

    In her spare time, Rosie enjoys hiking and gardening, and she also loves attending gigs and music festivals (although these are all somewhat hindered by her two very young boys!)

    Andrew Roberts

    Financial Director

    Andrew joined Arkhi in October 2015 after working for a German materials handling company for 25 years, the last 10 years as Finance & HR Director of the North-West region - contrary to popular belief he isn't old enough to have used chalk and slate when he did his training!

    Andrew has overall responsibility for the financial and HR management of Arkhi as Finance Director (Chief Bean Counter!). He enjoys the challenge of working in a completely new sector, having always been interested in design and engineering, and passionate about delivering quality and client satisfaction.

    He is a keen sports fan, playing golf, squash and supporting Manchester United. He is also very interested in motorbikes and boats, having gained an Offshore Yacht Master Licence.
