Contemporary new build home
Woore, Shropshire

Located within Shropshire countryside, this scheme is situated within a residential development consisting of custom and self-build homes.

The procurement of this new build dwelling will provide the clients with a low energy, lifetime home which can adapt to facilitate their future needs. It will incorporate level-threshold access to bridge the difference  to the outside and low energy strategies. The proposal celebrates the site’s characteristics, taking advantage of magnificent views to the southwest, and maximises the natural light into the building whilst minimising the prospect of overlooking from the adjoining potential sites.

The dwelling will be set out over two levels. The ground floor will be open plan living space as well as self-contained living accommodation whilst the first floor will contain the main bedrooms. All the main living spaces are situated to the south of the building to maximise natural light and to fully appreciate the views that the site has to offer. The dwelling has also been designed to benefit from the solar gains for heating purposes.

Externally, the red brick has been chosen to reflect the local vernacular and pay homage to the brick kilns that previously stood on the site.

The scheme draws on the use of traditional materials from the local context yet offers a contemporary level of comfort and design quality for aspirational modern living. It seeks to meet the special requirements of the owner, while retaining a modest scale and unobtrusive appearance.

Stage 3 – Spatial Coordination.
