Land development for residential use

Arkhi were appointed to prepare a feasibility study for a parcel of residential development land in Darlington.

The study included developing house types that could be interchangeable and flexible depending on their location within the residential development land. There were also explorations into the surrounding context and how to ensure safety given the increase in vehicular traffic imposed on the settlement. Highway speed limits were evaluated and consequently reduced.

In conjunction with the development of the dwellings, recreational green space was provided alongside blue infrastructure provisions. To integrate the proposed development, carefully planned access routes linked the existing and proposed settlements with the aim to create a cohesive environment with high levels of pedestrian permeability.
