The vision
When our director set out to design a home for his own family, the brief was personal and ambitious: a sustainable, contemporary house that balanced bold design with the practical demands of everyday life. It needed to prove that innovation and family comfort could live under one roof.

The vision
When our director set out to design a home for his own family, the brief was personal and ambitious: a sustainable, contemporary house that balanced bold design with the practical demands of everyday life. It needed to prove that innovation and family comfort could live under one roof.

The challenge
The site itself was empty, but the journey wasn’t simple. With planners sceptical of contemporary design in the Moorlands, and no existing house to work from, everything had to be created from scratch. While the project unfolded, our director and his family lived on-site in a caravan, experiencing every frustration and milestone our clients face when bringing a vision to life.

The Journey
Cloudhaus became a chance to live our own advice. From planning hurdles to design refinements, we navigated the same setbacks, decisions, and breakthroughs that our clients know well. By applying resilience, creativity, and technical expertise, we turned a bare site into an opportunity to showcase what a sustainable, contemporary family home could achieve.

The result
Cloudhaus is unapologetically modern: light-filled, sustainable, and practical for family life. It embodies the balance we strive for in every project — bold design that works beautifully in the real world. And because we lived through every twist of the process ourselves, it deepened our empathy for clients and sharpened our ability to deliver homes worth the fight. The project even caught the eye of Building the Dream.
