Site Topography Modelling

Site Topography Modelling

Developing a detailed 3D model of the site’s topography for a new project located adjacent to a canal, using data captured with our point cloud scanning technology.

At Arkhi, we use point cloud scanning technology to capture highly accurate digital information about a site, enabling the creation of detailed 3D topographical models in Revit. This process provides a precise representation of the existing landscape, forming a reliable foundation for the design and construction stages that follow.

By translating millions of scanned data points into a digital model, we are able to analyse the site with a level of accuracy that traditional survey methods often cannot achieve alone. These models allow us to clearly understand levels, boundaries, surrounding structures, and landscape features, helping to inform design decisions from the earliest stages of a project.

For sites with complex conditions, this approach becomes particularly valuable. Having a detailed digital model allows the design team to test ideas, assess constraints, and explore opportunities while ensuring that the proposed architecture responds appropriately to the existing environment.

One of our latest projects is located adjacent to a canal, where the surrounding landscape and topography play a significant role in shaping the design. Using a precise 3D site model, we can carefully evaluate how the building interacts with the terrain, nearby structures, and the canal itself. This helps ensure the proposal is both contextually sensitive and technically informed.

The use of point cloud scanning not only improves accuracy but also enhances collaboration across the design and construction teams. With a shared, data-rich model of the site, decisions can be made with greater confidence, supporting a smoother transition from concept to construction.

By integrating advanced digital surveying methods into our workflow, we are able to develop designs that are better informed, more responsive to their surroundings, and more efficient to deliver.
